An Apple iPhone was lost, found, turned over to police, and returned back to the owner — all in about 30 minutes time Friday night.
Arlington Heights police responded about 6:04 p.m. Friday, October 24, 2025 to a report of a found Apple iPhone in front of Walgreens, 235 East Palatine Road in the Town & Country Center shopping center at Arlington Heights Road and Palatine Road in Arlington Heights.
An Arlington Heights resident found the Apple iPhone in the street near the curb at the front door of Walgreens — definitely at risk of being run over by a car that might be driven up to Walgreens for a drop off. The Arlington Heights resident called 9-1-1 and arranged a meeting with an Arlington Heights police officer, so that the Apple iPhone could be transferred over to the police department in order to connect with the owner of the Apple iPhone.
Minutes after the 9-1-1 call, the owner’s son called his mom’s phone, and the Arlington Heights resident answered the phone. The Arlington Heights resident said that the police were about to arrive to meet him, and the police arrived in a short time to retrieve the phone.
The police officer arranged to meet the mother and son at a specific location, and the police officer turned over the phone to the owner after confirming proper ownership information — all within about 30 minutes of the Apple iPhone being lost.
