Apparently, a violent road range crime occurred near the Mobil gas station at Northwest Highway and Vail Avenue in Arlington Heights, Tuesday, August 5, 2025 (CARDINAL NEWS).

Police, firefighters and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 2:22 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2025 to a report of a vehicle and pedestrian accident on Northwest Highway just west of Vail Avenue near the Mobil gas station in Arlington Heights. An employee inside the gas station said he reported the crash, but was not aware of the exact circumstances in their driveway to Northwest Highway at the southwest corner of the gas station property. He was unaware from his position inside the gas station that a male victim was seriously injured on the driveway near Northwest Highway. Witnesses in the area weren’t sure whether there was a crash or not, but indicated there may have been a road rage beating involving a white male driving an older model Mercedes, and a male black driving a motorcycle. Witnesses who happened to be in downtown Arlington Heights told CARDINAL NEWS there was some type of physical altercation or assault that involved a male black adult kicking or stomping on the older male white victim’s head.

A witness said the older man was bleeding, unresponsive on the ground, and gasping for air. He was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

The male black was arrested, and transported away from the scene — toward the Arlington Heights police station.

The older man’s Mercedes and the motorcycle were both towed from the scene.

A crime scene perimeter was set up with yellow crime scene tape. Police continued working at the scene, investigating and taking pictures until about 4:35 p.m.

Since Arlington Heights announced on Facebook on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 being named the 12th safest place to live in the United States, a man was shot in the face in unincorporated Arlington Heights about 3:15 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2025 while offenders were apparently attempting to steal his Chevy Corvette parked on his driveway, and today this apparent violent road rage incident occurred in a period of nine days since the safe town announcement. The shooting was in an unincorporated Arlington Heights neighborhood about three blocks west of the Village of Arlington Heights border, and just west of the Lake Terramere neighborhood in Arlington Heights.
