Police, firefighters and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 8:48 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2025 to an unknown problem, and then a report of a stabbing at the Motel 6, 441 West Algonquin Road in Arlington Heights.
Police officers were first on the scene and found an adult male who reported he was stabbed. The victim was transported by Arlington Heights Fire Department paramedics to an undisclosed hospital.
There was no press release from the Village of Arlington Heights or the police department, as of 11:15 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2025, regarding this violent crime in a known high crime area of Arlington Heights. Initially, it is unknown if a suspect is in custody, or whether the offender is at large.
Beginning around August 2025, the Arlington Heights Fire Department and nearby fire departments are expected to encrypt fire dispatch and fire department emergency communications, which will eliminate the final leads for real time awareness of violent crimes in your community.
Village Manager Randy Recklaus oversees every aspect of daily operations of the Village of Arlington Heights, but apparently does not have the common sense to understand the need of awareness of emergency issues of public importance. On March 19, 2025, all NWCDS 9-1-1 board members voted to encrypt fire dispatch at Northwest Central Dispatch System (NWCDS). The motion to encrypt fire dispatch was brought up by Arlington Heights Village Manager Randy Recklaus. The motion was seconded by Wheeling Village Manager Jon Sfondilis. Neither of these two village managers expressed any concern about providing a substitute method to keep citizens informed about emergency issues in their municipality.
