An alert Lake County Sheriff’s deputy located and seized two firearms during a traffic stop yesterday, Sunday, April 20, 2025 in Beach Park.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted the traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Green Bay Road and Wall Avenue, Beach Park, because the vehicle’s registration was suspended.

While speaking to the driver, Dewan Frazier, 19, of the 0-99 block of Woodland Court, Park Forest, the deputy noticed the smell of fresh cannabis coming from inside the vehicle. Further conversation with Frazier revealed there was unsealed cannabis inside the vehicle.

As the deputy continued the investigation, he found that a juvenile passenger, a 17-year-old male of Park City, was in possession of a loaded, unserialized pistol. Another pistol with a drum-style magazine was located inside the trunk of the car.

Both Frazier and the juvenile were arrested and transported to the Lake County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division.

After reviewing the facts and circumstances of the incident, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the charges of unlawful possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver, and unlawful possession of cannabis against Frazier. Lake County Sheriff’s detectives petitioned the juvenile to juvenile court on the charges of aggravated unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of cannabis.

Frazier was processed and released with a court date. The juvenile was transported to the Hulse Juvenile Detention Facility near Vernon Hills for a court hearing.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
