The Chicago Fire Department trained much of this week on Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) at O’Hare International Airport, which periodically showed black, thick smoke rising from the northeast area of O’Hare International Airport.
However, the Citizen App on Friday afternoon, April 4, 2025 smoke behind houses near Lake Opeka in Des Plaines. The northeast corner of O’Hare International Airport in Chicago is about one-half mile southwest of Lake Opeka in Des Plaines.
