Robert Crimo III, on Monday morning March 3, 2025, changed his plea to guilty for 21 counts of first-degree murder, three counts for each of the seven people he is accused of killing at a Highland Park Fourth of July parade in 2022. He was also charged with multiple attempted murder charges for the people he wounded. There were 48 survivors at the mass shooting scene. Crimo III also pleaded guilty to 48 counts of attempted murder.
Crimo III’s mother, Denise Pesina also had an outburst in court, and was reprimanded by the judge, and ordered to maintain composure in the courtroom. When Denise Pesina left court, she explained her court incident in front of media reporters and cameras located in the lobby of the Lake County courthouse. She explained that she received notice this morning that the case was “removed to federal court.” She also made an unintelligible claim regarding relevance to her son’s case that 52 immigrants related to the Sinaloa Cartel are receiving new visas … and that this is a “government issue” and then walked away from the cameras.
The trial for Robert Crimo began Monday morning, March 3, 2025.
The 12-person jury was chosen last week, consisting of six men and six women, and six alternates.
