Police, firefighters and paramedics from Schiller Park responded about 9:53 p.m. Sunday, February 9, 2025 to a report of a crash with injuries at 9812 Lawrence Avenue in Schiller Park — in front of Richie’s Restaurant and Sports Lounge.
Schiller Park Fire Department’s Battalion Chief on arrival reported a multiple-vehicle crash. The crash involved a silver 4-door sedan, a gray 2-door sports car, and a white pickup truck.
The pickup truck was partially on a sidewalk on the eastbound side of Lawrence Avenue near 9809 Lawrence Avenue, west of the main impact scene of the two passenger vehicles.
The silver 4-door sedan was located near the driveway to 9815 Lawrence Avenue in the eastbound lanes, facing southbound perpendicular to the eastbound lanes. The silver 4-door sustained severe driver’s side damage from an apparent T-bone style crash.
The gray 2-door sports car was located in front of the door to Richie’s at 9810 Lawrence Avenue in the westbound lanes facing westbound at a 45-degree angle. The gray sports car sustained severe front-end damage.
A 58 year-old male victim died shortly after the crash occurred. The victim was identified as Randy K. Hiller, age 58, of Chicago. He is believed to have been driving the silver 4-door, attempting to pull out from Ruby Street to Lawrence Avenue when his car was hit by the gray sports car.
A witness said that the victim that was killed was driving a silver Chrysler 200, and had pulled out onto Lawrence Avenue from a side street (likely southbound from Ruby Street), and was struck by one of two vehicles that were possibly involved in a street race, westbound on Lawrence Avenue. The whereabouts of one of those vehicles was unknown after the crash. No information was initially available from the Schiller Park Police Department.
A Franklin Park fire engine crew and a Rosemont paramedic ambulance crew assisted Schiller Park firefighters and paramedics at the scene.
Initially, there was no information available on the medical conditions of any of the other crash victims, or how many total crash victims were involved.
Lawrence Avenue was closed near the crash scene for an extended crash investigation. The Major Case Assistance Team – Serious Traffic Reconstruction (MCAT-STAR) unit assisted Schiller Park Police Department with the investigation.
