Brian and Julianne Long are 20-year residents of Barrington with a passion for The Catlow Theatre — designed by Alfonso Iannelli who worked for Frank Lloyd Wright. Shortly after acquiring The Catlow Theatre in October 2022, the Longs realized that re-development of The Catlow Theatre, which is on the National Register of Historic Places (#89001112), would require more financial resources than they could supply on their own. They took responsibility for emergency repairs and then created the Catlow 1927 Foundation.

preserving the rich history of The Catlow with restoration of the iconic marquee, the intricate works of Alfonso Iannelli, and all of its historic features to their former glory;
embracing modern technologies and amenities, the foundation plans to transform the theatre into a versatile space, hosting not only classic movie nights but also live shows, concerts, comedians, weddings/receptions, private parties, and community events;
extending the facility beyond the auditorium, with the addition of a new lounge and bar in the former Boloney’s and dentist spaces, equipped with a full catering kitchen for local restaurants to contribute to the theatre’s vibrant atmosphere; and
committing to upgrades that include essential exterior repairs, including the roof and masonry, and comprehensive interior renovations, such as electrical and plumbing upgrades, state-of-the-art sound and lighting, and a versatile retractable screen for various events.
According to the official website for The Catlow 1927 Foundation, success of the vision relies on the support and generous donations from the community during the foundation’s capital campaign. Community financial sujpport will ensure that The Catlow Theatre becomes a dynamic space to create lasting memories and celebrate the arts for many generations in Barrington.
