Illinois State Police troopers, and firefighters and paramedics from Palatine responded about 4:22 a.m. Sunday, December 17, 2023 to a report of a single-vehicle rollover crash with entrapment on the exit ramp from northbound Route 53 to eastbound Palatine Road near Wilke Road in Arlington Heights.
Palatine firefighters and paramedics discovered an SUV rolled on the passenger side with one driver still in the vehicle. Firefighters and paramedics were able immediately extricate the driver out of a Chevy Trailblazer. The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle.
The driver did not initially report any injuries that required transportation to the hospital.
Illinois State Police are investigating the crash. Initially no information regarding charges or citations was available.
The ramp were the crash occurred is known for frequent rollover crashes including several rollover truck crashes that have occurred closer to Palatine Road.
The ramp speed is 30 MPH where the crash scene was located.
Road conditions were slightly wet with air temperature well above freezing at about 43°F.
