Fire Commissioner Annette Nance-Holt confirmed Price was on the roof of the four-story building when he fell through a light shaft. The Chicago Fire Department announced Monday morning, November 13, 2023 the passing of a firefighter member, who was injured Monday morning at 2430 North Lincoln Avenue. Commissioner Nance-Holt identified the fallen firefighter as Firefighter/EMT Andrew Price from the temporary press podium at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where firefighter Price was transported.

The firefighter was assigned to Chicago Fire Department Truck 44, and was among the first crews on the scene at about 5:31 a.m. Monday. An accident related to an apparent fall inside the building during firefighting operations occurred about 5:53 a.m.

The firefighter was rescued using ropes after the apparent fall inside the building in smokey conditions.

The firefighter was removed from the building beginning about 6:23 a.m., and was transported about 6:33 a.m. from the scene to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
