Boston Firefighters Stop Intense Fire on Ellington St South of Downtown Boston

Boston firefighters responded Saturday afternoon, November 25, 2023 to fight an extra alarm fire involving row homes in the 0-99 block of Ellington Street. Firefighters were attempting to stop the fire from spreading to additional row homes, and were able hold the major damage to only two buildings. The fire department response was elevated to a 6th Alarm, and the fire was knocked at about 4:30 p.m. ET.




Commissioner Burke briefed the media with a report that one resident was transported by ⁦BOSTON EMS, and 29 residents are displaced.

The American Red Cross Massachusetts working to find housing for the displaced.

The extra alarm fire was located just east of the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston, south of downtown Boston.
