Area police officers responded about 11:50 p.m. Friday, October 20, 2023 to an undisclosed incident at Salem Plaza, 1065 North Salem Drive in Schaumburg. Police officers from Palatine, South Barrington, Streamwood, Schaumburg, and other area police departments responded to assist Hoffman Estates police in the area of Colony Lake Park and a neighborhood of townhomes and business along Golf Road and Higgins Road.
Firefighters and paramedics from Schaumburg also responded with two ambulances for a report of a Hoffman Estates police officer injured near the Dance ‘N Tees store at 1065 North Salem Drive in Schaumburg.
One unmarked black Ford Interceptor SUV was parked at the scene, while a number of police units set up a large perimeter approximately in a geographical box bordered by Higgins Road to the north, Salem Drive to the east, Colony Lake Drive to the south, and Gannon Drive to the west.
The condition of the police officer was not available.
The assignment for the second ambulance was not disclosed.
A K-9 search team was moving through the area after midnight, including through the parking lot of Zeigler Infiniti of Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg Toyota. Police officers with their squad overhead lights activated were posted at several intersections within the geographical perimeter box, and some were carrying rifles. A few roadways in the neighborhood were also blocked by police vehicles.
A witness told CARDINAL NEWS that it appeared that one person may have been arrested at the scene, but no information has been released by the Hoffman Estates or Schaumburg police departments.
No alerts were posted on the official timeline for the Village of Schaumburg on X.com regarding the police activity.
