O’Hare route closed down for oil spill with spin outs near Terminal 1, 2, and 3 (CARDINAL NEWS). YouTube Tips ⓘ

O’Hare police were assigned about 12:51 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2023 to Terminal 1 before the split for Arrivals and Departures in the left lane for a gray Hyundai Genesis that spun out on some oil on the roadway for the re-circulation route for the O’Hare terminals. The Hyundai Genesis crashed into some barricades. No injuries were reported, but several other spin outs also occurred. The re-circulation route was subsequently shut down because of the other vehicles also spinning out.

Cars arrival at O’Hare from I-190 could not enter the lower level (Arrivals) because of the road block. The re-circulation route re-opened after clean up about 2:14 a.m.. The oil leak was from a Chicago Streets and Sanitation Department street sweeper.

Several people among the light crowd overnight at the terminals mistakenly thought that a suspicious package was discovered in the Arrivals area.
