Mount Prospect Police Department announced on Monday, August 28, 2023 that Mount Prospect Police Detectives on Thursday, August 24, 2023, charged Jemaine Maxwell, 20 year old, of 7800 South Wood Street, Chicago, with two felony counts of Burglary to Vehicle and three misdemeanor counts of Criminal Trespass to Vehicle. These charges stemmed from multiple burglary to vehicle incidents that occurred in the 400 block of North Pine Street and the 600 block of North Wille Street on July 28, 2022.

The Mount Prospect Police Department on Friday ,July 28, 2022 at approximately 12:11 p.m. received a 911 call reporting two suspicious people while wearing gloves and hoods were looking into houses in a neighborhood of single-family homes between Kensington Road and Central Road, just west of Route 83 (Main Street). Police officers responded to the area and located the two subjects, who ran when they saw the marked police cars arrive. One of the subjects, later identified as Jemaine Maxwell, was apprehended behind the strip mall at 1 West Rand Road. Property that did not belong to Maxwell was discovered in close proximity to him when he was taken into custody. After the initial investigation, no victims were able to be identified, so Maxwell was released from custody pending further investigation. In the following days, multiple burglary and criminal trespass to vehicle cases in the area where Maxwell was observed were reported. Detectives continued the investigation and were able to locate and use video and electronic evidence to connect Maxwell to the reported burglary and criminal trespass to motor vehicles reported in the 400 block of North Pine Street and the 600 block of North Wille Street on July 28, 2022. Arrest warrants were obtained for Maxwell and he was arrested on August 24, 2023 while at the Cook County courthouse in Bridgeview.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved two felony counts of Burglary to Vehicle and three misdemeanor counts of Criminal Trespass to Vehicle charges against Maxwell.

Maxwell was transported to a bond hearing on August 25, 2023, where his bond was set at $50,000.00 “D” combined for all of his charges. His next court date is scheduled for September 22, 2023 at 9:00 AM in room 108 of the 3rd District Court of Cook County in Rolling Meadows.

The public is reminded that criminal charges are not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
