A suspect escaped from a Park Ridge police officer or police officers at I-294 southbound at Lake Cook Road near Deerfield, Illinois about 3:09 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2023. A Good Samaritan and veteran stopped his red van to assist the police, and attempted to slow down the suspect who was fleeing from police on foot. The offender allegedly threw the Good Samaritan to the ground and jumped in his red van and fled the scene.

The offender was described as a large male/white suspect 6’4” around 240 LBS.

The offender turned on to Caribou Crossing near the I-294/Lake Road interchange, and parked the van. He then threw another motorist to the ground in the townhouse neighborhood where Caribou Crossing is located, and carjacked the second victim’s late-model blue Chevy Camaro.




The suspect fled northbound in the Camaro on I-294 and the Tri-State into Kenosha County where he was stopped by police in Kenosha County by about 4:20 p.m.

The maroon GMC van was recovered by police, and the owner will get his van back when the investigation is complete.

Northbrook police, Park Ridge police, Illinois State Police remained on the scene for the investigation.

The condition of the Chevy Camaro vehicle was initially unknown.

A police pursuit was described in the area of Lake Cook Road and Caribou Crossing and also in the area of Techny and Sanders. Pursuit location also described eastbound Lake Cook Road from Portwine.

A crash occurred that may have involved the pursuit at Lake Cook Road and Portwine.

The escaped suspect carjacked a maroon GMC van.

Suspect then carjacked a blue Camaro with white stripes.

The prisoner was reported to have his handcuffs in front of him.
