Illinois State Police and Northbrook Fire Department firefighters and paramedics responded about 5:48 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2023 to a report of a serious single-vehicle crash in the eastbound lanes of the I-94 Edens Spur near milepost 28.
Upon arrival police, firefighters and paramedics discovered a Cadillac SUV crashed with the driver ejected. The male driver was transported to Highland Park Hospital where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room. The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Anthony Jimenez of Evanston. On Wednesday, June 28, 2023, an autopsy was performed at the Lake County Coroner’s Office, and preliminary results indicate that Anthony Jimenez died from blunt force injuries as a result of the crash.
According to the Lake County Coroner’s Office, preliminary investigation shows that Jimenez drove 2007 Cadillac Utility Vehicle, and for an unknown reason left the roadway onto the right shoulder and struck a guardrail, which caused the vehicle to rollover. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 20-year-old man was ejected from the vehicle.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police.
