Police, firefighter, and paramedics from Schaumburg responded about 2:29 a.m. May 28, 2023 to a report of a male unresponsive from a possible drug overdose in a parking lot at the southeast corner of Golf Road and Meacham Road in Schaumburg.
Paramedics upon arrival discovered an unresponsive male, age 18, suffering from cardiac arrest, and began CPR and Advanced Life Support. A Schaumburg Fire Department truck company was assigned to the scene to join an ambulance crew and engine crew to provide additional EMS support. From the appearance of EMS operations at the scene, the patient was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to a Cook County Medical Examiners Office release this week (the last week of June 2023), the male, age 18, died from complications of cocaine and ethanol intoxication at 1180 Plaza Drive in Schaumburg.
What else was happening at this hour in the northwest suburbs? Another drug overdose where the patient survived, and a rollover crash at 2:44 a.m. in the right lane of Interstate 90 WEST near Mile Marker 75 near Des Plaines.
