A dashcam video camera from a Fairfax County police vehicle captured when a reckless driver of a BMW sports car lost control in the oncoming lane on Fairfax County Parkway, and slid into the the opposite lane where a Fairfax County police officer was conducting a traffic stop. Yes, the driver of the BMW sports car ended up hitting the stopped car, the police officer and the police vehicle.




Five people suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash. According to Fairfax County Police Department, the officer sustained minor injuries, and the driver of the stopped vehicle was injured. The driver of the stopped vehicle (identity not released), was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries not considered to be life-threatening, and was released from the hospital.

The juvenile driving the BMW M3 and two passengers in the BMW M3 suffered minor injuries.

The juvenile driver was charged with reckless driving.

A Sully Police District patrol officer at about 11:38 a.m. May 1, 2023 was on a routine traffic stop with a gray 2012 BMW 750 Series on southbound Fairfax County Parkway near Braddock Road. The 17-year-old driver of a black 2018 BMW M3 was traveling northbound on Fairfax County Parkway at a high rate of speed and lost control. The BMW spun around, crossed the median, striking the community member’s vehicle, and then the police officer’s vehicle. The officer was nearly struck fatally.




The adult driver in the BMW 750 Series on the traffic stop was transported to the hospital with minor injuries — not considered to be life-threatening — and has since been released from the hospital. The police officer sustained minor injuries. The juvenile driver of the BMW M3 and the two passengers in the BMW M3 sustained minor injuries. The juvenile was charged with reckless driving.

The Fairfax County Police Department expressed relief that this crash did not result in a tragedy.
