Police: Armed Boyfriend Accuses Girlfriend of Working for CIA; Beats Her, Threatens to Kill Her in Des Plaines

A Des Plaines resident has been charged with Attempt Murder, Aggravated Domestic Battery, and Aggravated Unlawful Restraint, connected to a domestic-related incident that occurred on Wednesday, March 1, 2023.

Kristofer Allen Michael Thompson, age 34, of 1722 Orchard Street Des Plaines, was taken into custody at his residence on March 1, at approximately 8:15 a.m. less than one hour after police officers responded to a domestic battery call.




Des Plaines police officers were dispatched at 7:28 a.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2023, reference a report of a aggravated domestic battery in the block of 1700 block of Orchard Street in Des Plaines. While en route, officers learned that the victim, a 30- year-old female from Des Plaines, was reporting the incident from her vehicle in the Walgreens parking lot, 1378 Miner Street. Des Plaines police officers met with the victim at Walgreens and immediately observed injuries to her head and arms. Paramedics were dispatched for the observed injuries by about 7:39 a.m. The victim received treatment for her injuries at a local hospital.

The victim reported that on March 1, at approximately 12:50 a.m., her boyfriend, Kristofer Thompson, returned home from drinking at a bar. Thompson was upset about two people he met at the bar and began accusing the victim of working for the CIA. Thompson then left her room and returned with a black handgun. While in the bedroom, Thompson continued his accusations and pointed the handgun at the victim’s head while threatening to kill her. Over the next several hours, Thompson struck the victim several times with his fists and the butt of the handgun on her head. He threatened her life multiple times, often giving her a countdown before stopping at the last moment.




At approximately 6:00 a.m., when Thompson was sleeping, the victim escaped the house and drove to the Walgreens parking lot, 1378 Miner Street and call the Des Plaines Police Department.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved felony charges against Thompson. His bond was set at $750,000 cash and his next court date will be on March 14, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. at the Skokie Court House.
