Police, firefighters and paramedics from Lake Zurich responded about 2:25 a.m. Monday, January 23, 2023 to a report of a residential garage fire in the block of 26000 North Fairfield Road in unincorporated Lake Zurich. The first arriving fire company discovered a residential detached 3-car garage on fire. The fire crew deployed hose lines to extinguish the fire. The fire was quickly brought under control, and the residence nearby was not damaged.
The garage and nearby equipment sustained extensive damage and the loss is estimated to be around $175,000. There was one firefighter with a minor injury, and the firefighter was not transported to a hospital. There were no civilian injuries, according to Lake Zurich Fire Department.
The Lake Zurich Fire Department received assistance from the Barrington Fire Department, Barrington-Countryside Fire Protection District, Mundelein Fire Department, Lincolnshire-Riverwood Fire Protection District, Long Grove Fire Protection District, Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Protection District, Wauconda Fire Department, Crystal Lake Fire Department, Streamwood Fired Department, Arlington Heights Fire Department (change of quarters), and Mount Prospect Fire Department (change of quarters).
Fairfield Road was closed between Milton Road and Open Parkway while firefighting operations were underway. Additional assistance was provided by the Lake County Sheriff’s deputies, and the Lake County Highway Department.
