Robert B. Sudduth, age 30, of Waukegan is accused of shooting two men at Stretch’s Sports Bar and Grill, 200 North Green Bay Road in Waukegan about 2:20 a.m. Saturday, December 24, 2022.
Police, firefighters and paramedics responded about 2:20 a.m. to a report of a shooting at the establishment and found one of two victims that were shot. The one victim was unresponsive, and police learned the other victim drove himself to the hospital with injuries initially believed to be non-life-threatening.
Police officers began CPR and lifesaving measures as they determined the scene was secure. Then paramedics were notified to move up to the victim to provide Advanced Life Support treatment.
Waukegan Fire Department paramedics transported Anthony Pedroza, age 23, of Zion to Vista Medical Center in Waukegan, where he died of his injuries. The Lake County Coroner’s Office was notified at 3:43 a.m. Saturday, December 24, 2022, and responded to the hospital.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office released the identity of the victim today, Tuesday, December 27, 2022, stating that an autopsy determined that Anthony Pedroza died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Robert B Sudduth was booked at Lake County jail on Monday morning December 26, 2022; and was charged with Murder, and Unlawful Use of Weapon by a person without a valid FOID card. Bond was set at $2,000,000 at 10 percent.
The preliminary hearing is set for 9:00 a.m. January 3, 2023 in Room T020 of the Lake County Circuit Court.
