Police officers, firefighters, and paramedics from Zion responded at approximately 12:19 a.m. Sunday, December 4, 2022 to a report of multiple gunshots and three people shot in the block of 1800 Horeb Avenue in Zion. Police discovered five people were shot at the scene.
According to the Zion police Department, police officers found several shooting victims inside of residence. Four high school age juveniles were shot, all sustaining non-life threatening injuries. They were treated and released from local hospitals. A fifth victim was an 18 year-old male, who sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen, and is listed in critical, but stable condition being treated at a local hospital, according to the Zion Police Department.
The Zion Police Department is investigating this incident and coordinating efforts with other area police departments with related activity. Preliminary information shows this was a targeted attack towards an individual or individuals in this residence. According to the Zion Police Department, nothing indicates a risk to the public.
The investigation is ongoing.
