One Dead, 14 Injured in High Speed SUV Crash into Apple Store in Hingham, Massachusetts

Police, firefighters, and paramedics from Hingham, Massachusetts responded just after 10:45 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2022 to a report that a vehicle crash through the glass wall of an Apple store at 94 Derby St Suite #271, Hingham, MA.

Firefighters and paramedics on arrival called out a mass casualty incident when they discover they had at least 14 people injured. One person is reported killed, and four people are listed in critical condition. A male victim was reported pinned against a wall inside the store. A large hole was created at the front of the store by the crashed vehicle described as an SUV, and the vehicle was a significant distance inside the store. Several people were laying outside the store after the crash.

At least one witness reported that the SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed before it crashed into the Apple Store.

A dark SUV traveled through a plate glass window at the front of the Apple Store.

Mutual aid police, firefighters, and paramedics were assigned to the scene.

Seven fire engines and 14 ambulances were assigned to the scene. The medical director of South Shore Hospital responded to the scene with task of medical treatment of victims at a mass casualty incident.

A technical rescue response was also assigned. Early reports indicated that there was structural damage that posed a risk of building or partial building collapse.

The driver of the SUV was not initially transported by paramedics to a hospital, and is in custody with police officers for investigation.
