Man, Age 83, Critically Injured in Crash into Trees on Dilley’s Road South of Orchard Bluff Lane, Wadsworth

Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded about 6:30 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2022 to a single-vehicle traffic crash with injuries in the block of by Newport . Lake County Sheriff’s deputies arrived and located a 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer with significant damage in a crash with a tree.

A man was assessed with life threatening injuries by Newport Fire Protection District paramedics, and transported via ambulance to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. The man may have suffered a medical event prior to the crash, and was listed in critical condition.

Preliminary investigation shows the driver of the Mitsubishi, an 83-year-old man of Gurnee, was traveling northbound on Dilleys Road. For an unknown reason, the man failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and drove off the east side of Dilleys Road, striking several trees and a fence.

The Speed Limit on the estimated 40-degree left curve for norhbound drivers is 20 MPH.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
