Several People Shot; Rolling Shooting Investigated on I-88 EAST from Route 83 to York Rd Near Oak Brook

Illinois State Police troopers and Oak Brook police, firefighters and paramedics responded about 1:12 a.m. Sunday, August 14, 2022 to a report of a crash with shots fired on eastbound I-88 near Route 83. Police on scene reported multiple people were shot. One person was reported shot with a life-threatening gunshot wound or wounds, and Oak Brook police officers were performing CPR.




The updated location was I-88 at 138.9 EAST, however shootings may have occurred while victims were “rolling” in their vehicles on eastbound I-88.

A silver Nissan and Lincoln MKZ were found stopped at or along the scene with shooting victims. Multiple shell casings were found immediately. A witness reported they saw what looked like might have been .223 casings on the roadway on I-88.

Several people got out of their vehicles and were congregating near the scene.

The shooting victims were transported to Elmhurst and Loyola hospitals.

The shooting possibly began at about Route 83 and continued on I-88 EAST to about Mile Marker 138.9 which is near York Road and the Salt Creek Greenway Trail (bike trail).
