Extra Alarm House Fire on McGlashen Drive in South Barrington

Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District (BCFPD) firefighters and paramedics were dispatched about 11:43 a.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2022 to a report of a residential structure fire in the block of 0-99 McGlashen Drive in South Barrington.

The initial crews arrived on scene and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage and a large window facing the street. Crews immediately initiated a fire attack, and the response was upgraded by command to a MABAS Box Alarm by 11:56 a.m., was elevated to the second alarm level at about 12:10 p.m.

First arriving units were able to confirm that all residents had evacuated prior to arrival of firefighters. Crews were able to contain the fire to the garage and kitchen areas. The home was determined to be uninhabitable due to smoke, heat, and water damage.

There were no reported injuries to firefighters or the home’s occupants. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The residence was turned over to the homeowner.
