2 Suspects Arrested, Accused of Stabbing a Man at Apartment Complex on Trace Drive in Buffalo Grove

Police and firefighter/paramedics from Buffalo Grove responded about 9:40 P.M. Tuesday, June 28, 2022 to a report of a stabbing at the Buffalo Ridge apartments in the block of 600 Trace Drive in Buffalo Grove. An arrest of two suspects was announced about five days later by Buffalo Grove Police Department.

According to Buffalo Grove Police Department, police were dispatched to the apartment to a report that a person had been stabbed. Police arrived to the victim’s location first, and determined the scene was secure. Police officers discovered the male/adult stabbing victim was injured with a laceration in the arm and a puncture wound in the back. Police officers provided first aid until paramedics moved up from staging to the victim’s location.




The victim was transported by Buffalo Grove Fire Department paramedics to Level 1 Truama Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. He is currently recovering from the injuries.

A second ambulance from Arlington Heights Fire Department and a rescue squad from Buffalo Grove Fire Department were assigned to the scene to assist and assess a family member of the victim. The family member was not transported to the hospital.

A police investigation indicated that the victim had a previous altercation with two adult males, and that one of the adult males spotted the victim near the Burger King across Dundee Road. Two suspects followed the victim home at the apartment on Trace Drive, stabbed the victim, and fled before police arrived.




Buffalo Grove Police Department identified the suspects as Ryan Bruce, age 33, of the block of 1900 Cambridge Court in Palatine, and Ryan Neises, age 20, of the block of 1500 Norway Lane in Palatine. Palatine Police Department assisted with the investigation, and the suspects were arrested on Sunday, July 3, 2022.

After a Cook County Bond Court meeting on Monday, July 4, 2022, both suspects were held without bond. A second bond hearing was scheduled on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, and both suspects were again ruled held without bond. Both suspects are being held in Cook County Jail Division 8 at 26th Street and California Avenue in Chicago.

Their next court date is scheduled in Cook County Circuit Court Rolling Meadows on July 29, 2022.
