Crash at Coral Rd and Maple St in Riley Township South of Marengo

McHenry County Sheriff’s deputies, Marengo police officers and firefighters and paramedics from Marengo Fire Protection District responded about 2:56 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2022 to a report of a crash involving a rollover at West Coral Road and Maple Street in Riley Township.

One person was reported to be unresponsive in one of the vehicles. A medical transport helicopter from LifeNet was assigned to in-flight stand by and then assigned to the scene. Battalion 11 on arrival reported two vehicles involved with heavy damage and one of the vehicles on its side. Two pickup trucks were involved in the crash, and the pickup truck that rolled was hit near center on the passenger side and was located in a grassy field.

Advanced Life Support was administered for three crash victims. A female passenger in one of the vehicles was treated with CPR in addition to Advanced Life Support, and airlifted by the LifeNet medical transport helicopter. She was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Javon Bea Hospital – Riverside in Rockford, Illinois.

A Huntley ambulance was also dispatched to the scene to provide mutual aid to the Marengo paramedic crews.

The intersection, just south of Marengo, was closed for at least three hours for an extended crash investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office. Maple Street is controlled by a 2-way stop signs. Both roadways are 2-lane rural highways with soft shoulders. Coral Road (McHenry County Highway A44) traffic does not stop, according to Google Maps Street View images captured June 2019.
