Sacramento police say one of the male shooters at the Sacramento mass shooting attached a “switch” to their gun to make it an automatic weapon.
According to the ATF, the relatively simple, albeit illegal, device, known as a switch, allows a conventional semi-automatic Glock pistol to function as a fully automatic firearm. The switch is classified as a machine gun under federal law.
The device is also known as an Autosear switch.
Law enforcement agencies in Chicagoland have been working to eliminate or reduce Autosear switch proliferation in Chicagoland.
