Police, firefighters and and paramedics from Zion responded about 3:49 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2022 to a report of a serious crash with injuries at 9th Street and Lorelei Drive in Waukegan. Upon arrival Zion police officers discovered a single-vehicle crash with multiple victims injured.
The driver and passengers were transported to nearby hospitals, according to Zion Police Department. One of the passengers, an 18-year-old male, was pronounced dead.
Initial investigation indicates the vehicle appears to have left the roadway into a ditch, where it struck a utility pole. The cause of the crash was initially unknown.
Zion police are investigating a report that two passengers fled the scene after the crash.
Zion Police Department on Monday, April 4, 2022 asked anyone with information about the crash to contact the police department at 847–872-8000.
