Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District firefighters and paramedics responded about 5:40 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2022 to a report of a detached garage fire in the block of 2900 Forest Glen Parkway in Woodridge. A structure fire response was immediately dispatched, sending four engines, two trucks, two medic units, and command staff to the scene.

Engine 52’s crew was first on the scene and reported a fully-involved fire in a 2-door detached garage. Fire companies arrived on scene at 5:43 a.m. and discovered heavy fire and smoke conditions involving the detached two-car garage, along with a single-family home exposed to high heat within 20-feet of the burning garage. Fire attack hose lines were advanced, extinguishing a significant volume of fire by about 6:18 a.m. Two vehicles were also burning inside the garage, which was declared extinguished about 6:52 a.m. Both vehicles were destroyed in the fire.

The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes, according to the Woodridge Fire Protection District. Firefighters continued working on scene until 7:30 a.m. performing salvage and overhaul activities.

No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported, according to the Woodridge Fire Protection District. However, a 27 year-old man, who lives in the house on the same property as the burning garage, was temporarily missing beginning immediately after the fire was discovered. The man was found safe later on Monday.

The detached garage fire is considered suspicious in nature, according to the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District. The Woodridge Police Department was on scene for investigation, and an ongoing investigation of the fire is continuing.

The Lisle-Woodridge Fire District was assisted by firefighters, paramedics and/or command staff from Darien-Woodridge Fire Protection District and Downers Grove Fire Department.
