UPDATE: The helicopter may have taken off and landed at Campbell Airport in Grayslake.

The helicopter, described as a US Army Eurocopter UH-72A Lakota, was flying at an altitude of about 1800 to 1900 feet with a ground speed of about 36 knots (41 mph).

The pilot has taken at least 8 circles around the lake, and was also as far southwest as Main Street and Long Lake Road, and made several passes over Round Lake High School.
