Mayor Lori Lightfoot reacted to the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict after a jury on Friday found Kyle Rittenhouse not guilty on all counts in his murder trial connected to the shootings of three people during unrest in Kenosha during the summer of 2020 YouTube Tips ⓘ

Inquiring about a Lori Lightfoot tweet and offering a reference that many Columbus statue protest , a reporter (voice recognition possibly Amy Jacobsen) asked Mayor Lori Lightfoot in a press conference Monday, November 22, 2021 if she really thinks that Kyle Rittenhouse’s acquittal on all charges is a warning shot that vigilante justice is now allowed? … and if she watched the videos that were presented in the courtroom? Lightfoot replied that she saw a number of videos in the Rittenhouse case. Then she offered the following criticism of the Rittenhouse trial.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot criticized the trial with the following talking points …

Lightfoot said she watched the judge shape the evidence that was presented.

Lightfoot said the judge put his thumb on the scale — excluding evidence, not allowing the deceased to be called victims, not letting certain charges going to the jury (Rittenhouse initially faced six counts).

Lightfoot said the jury looked for cues from the judge.

Lightfoot said that in 30 plus trials she never saw a circumstance where the defendant got to pull “names out of a hat” to decide who the jurors were going to be — that were deciding his fate (Lightfoot was referring to blind, random choices that occurred when Rittenhouse picked juror numbers on paper from a bowl).

“Why on earth did that child — and that’s what it was — child have an AR-15, or whatever his rifle was, leave his home in Antioch and think that he had the right to go up to another state to protect — supposedly protect the city? … “If its a free-for-all and everybody can simply take matters into their own hands, we’re going to devolve into chaos.”

— Mayor Lori Lightfoot

At one point in the interview [2:37] it sounded like Lori Lightfoot pronounced Rittenhouse, Rittenhausen.
