Apartment Fire at Lakewood Apartments on Beech St, Island Lake

Police from Island Lake and firefighters and paramedics from Wauconda Fire District responded about 4:25 a.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2021 to a report of flames and smoke coming from the kitchen in an apartment unit in the block of 4100 Beech Street in Island Lake.

Upon arrival firefighters reported smoke showing, and then reported heavy smoke coming from the basement.




Firefighters had water on the fire by 4:36 a.m., and the fire was under control by 4:41 a.m.

Initially no injuries were reported.

Firefighters staged at the Island Foods parking lot. Firefighters from Buffalo Grove, Barrington, Barrington Countryside, Buffalo Grove, and Lake Zurich responded either to the scene or to stand by in Wauconda Fire District fire stations.
