Rollover semi-dump truck crash three weeks after another crash occurred at almost the exact location at Palatine Road east of Route 53 in Arlington Heights.

Illinois State Police troopers, and police, firefighters and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 9:28 a.m. Monday, October 18, 2021 to a report of a rollover semi-truck crash with stone and gravel content spilled on the roadway on eastbound Palatine Road just east of the ramp from Route 53 to Palatine Road in Arlington Heights.
Police and firefighters received a report that there was no entrapment, but that there was a fuel leak.
Police were first on the scene, and immediately worked to block eastbound Palatine Road and close the exit ramps from northbound Route 53 to eastbound Palatine Road.
The semi-trailer dump truck was carrying gravel and pebbles, which was spread across the eastbound lanes of Palatine Road during the rollover crash.
No other vehicles were hit during the rollover crash.
Paramedics assessed the truck driver, but the truck driver refused transportation to a hospital. He initially felt only a minor injury.
Diesel fueled was leaking from a ruptured fuel tank. Firefighters plugged one leak, but could not access another leak, and created a dike with a granular absorbent to contain the leaked diesel fuel.
The truck driver was apparently driving on the exit ramp from northbound Route 53 to eastbound Palatine Road when the semi-trailer dump truck rolled to the driver’s side of the truck. The investigation is being conducted by the Illinois State Police. Arlington Heights police officers worked on traffic control.
Today’s crash occurred three weeks after a similar semi-dump truck crash that occurred in almost the exact same location at about 8:02 a.m. on Monday, September 27, 2021. The first crash also injured the driver, and he required transportation to a hospital.
The exit ramp from northbound Route 53 and eastbound Palatine Road were closed until about 11:30 a.m. Monday.
