Although two individuals have already been apprehended and charged, Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives continued their investigation into the shooting homicide of Elliot Jones, to ensure everyone involved is held accountable for their actions.
Information developed throughout the investigation showed Dalance Montrell Robinson, 21, of the 0-99 block of Paxton Avenue, Calumet City, was involved in the robbery and murder of Jones. The information and evidence gathered was reviewed by the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office who approved an arrest warrant for four counts of first degree murder. A Lake County Judge authorized and signed the arrest warrant on July 14, 2021.
On July 15, 2021, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies located Robinson driving in Waukegan and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however, he fled from deputies at a high rate of speed. On July 19, 2021, sheriff’s detectives obtained another arrest warrant for Robinson for fleeing and eluding.
On August 12, 2021, sheriff’s detectives and members of the sheriff’s warrants team conducted surveillance in the area of Washington Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Ave, as Robison was believed to be in that area. He was spotted and arrested without incident near the intersection.
Robinson remains held at the Lake County Jail on $5,000,000.00 bail pending an initial court appearance.
On June 8, 2020, suspect Donterrance M. Nixon, 22, of the block of 600 Lenox Avenue, Waukegan was arrested as a person of interest in the shooting death of Elliot Jones. With evidence gathered in early June 2020, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved two counts of first degree murder for Donterrance M. Nixon, for his involvement in the murder.
Jordae Wilson, the second homicide suspect in the case, was arrested on November 22, 2020 by Kensosha Police Department.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
