Police from Wauconda and assisting police agencies were involved in a pursuit in Lake County beginning about 1:55 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2021 in area in Fremont Township between Mundelein and Wauconda. The suspect is wanted on multiple warrants.

Wauconda police responded about 1:35 p.m. Thursday to a noise complaint related to a muffler on an older model pickup truck, and a driver of the pickup truck that was allegedly yelling at people in the neighborhood.

Police officers on arrival discovered a male driver in his 30s driving an older model (2003 to 2007) black Chevrolet Silverado, but the driver fled the scene.

The multi-agency pursuit began approximately at northbound Fremont Center Road at Gilmer Road and also traversed Route 176. The suspects’s Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck hit another vehicle at one point. The driver also took the pickup truck off road at least twice during the pursuit. An ambulance was dispatched for the innocent victim of the crash while the pursuit continued.

The pursuit reached speeds of 80 MPH.

The driver stopped at an apartment complex near Bonner Road and Fairfield and then fled westbound on Bonner Road, and later proceeded southbound on Lakeshore, eastbound Sunnyside, and eastbound on Route 176.

The driver left the roadway near northbound Gilmer Road from Hawley Street. The offender also struck another vehicle at Gilmer Road and Fremont Center Road.

The offender entered the Del Web community at Del Web Boulevard from Route 176 about 2:13 p.m. The offender then turned eastbound on Grand Dominion to Epstein Circle, then sped around Rockwell Circle and then Canton Circle.

The offender drove into a marsh in a backyard off of Canton Circle about 2:18 p.m. and was driving forward and in reverse in the marsh. By 2:27 p.m. the pursuit was secured and the offender was in custody.

The pursuit ended in the block of 3800 Canton Circle with the suspect and vehicle in custody by about 2:30 p.m. The address is located in the Grand Dominion by Del Web just northwest of Hawley Street and Chevy Chase Road in Fremont Township, just west of Mundelein.

An ambulance was dispatched to Canton Circle about 2:48 p.m., but it was not initially confirmed if the suspect was the injured victim.

The information in this article is an early report published before any summary information was confirmed or released by police or fire authorities.
