The Blue Angels recently changed their aircraft from the F-18 Hornet to the F-18E Super Hornet in November 2020. The F-18 Hornet was in service with the Blue Angels for 35 years — since 1986.
The first appearance worldwide of the F-18E Super Hornet aircraft at an air show tour will be this weekend at the Sun N’ Fun Aerospace Expo in Lakeland, Florida. The F-18 Super Hornet is 30 percent larger than the F-18 Legacy Hornet.
Due to the COVID-19 virus pandemic, the entire 2020 show season was cancelled. The 2020 tour had been scheduled to be the last season for the team in the F/A-18 Legacy Hornets.
The Sun N’ Fun Aerospace Expo funs from April 13-18 2021 southwest of the Lakeland Linder International Airport, 4175 Medulla Road in Lakeland, Florida.
