Illinois State Police and firefighters and paramedics from Palatine responded about 2:24 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2021 to a report of a crash with injuries on northbound Route 53 near the exit ramp to eastbound Lake Cook Road near unincorporated Arlington Heights.
On arrival, Illinois State Police troopers and Palatine firefighters found a man injured inside a severely damaged red pickup truck. The man was transported by Palatine Fire Department paramedics to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.
The pickup truck was used by a siding business and was carrying long ladders and scaffolding on the roof and framed bed of the pickup truck. The bed of the pickup truck split off the truck and was upside down on top of the ladders and scaffolding. The front of the pickup truck was upright.
The exit ramp was shut down for about 15 to 20 minutes while A-Express Towing & Recovery crews removed the two large pieces of the pickup truck and the ladders, scaffolding and debris.
