Rush Limbaugh had died at age 70 on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. Limabaugh’s wife Kathryn made the announcement on his radio show this morning.

“Losing a loved one is terribly difficult, even more so when that loved one is larger than life. Rush will forever be the greatest of all time.”

— Kathryn Adams Limbaugh

Conservative radio commentator Rush Limbaugh had been off the air for about one week from his show The Rush Limbaugh Show — a nationally syndicated show on AM and FM radio stations since 1988.

Limbaugh was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer on January 20, 2020, after first experiencing shortness of breath on January 12, 2020. He announced his cancer diagnosis on air during his radio show on February 3, 2020. He announced he would miss airtime to undergo treatment, and stated that he planned to continue the program “as normally and competently” as he could while undergoing treatment. He said he didn’t want to make his show about him.

Limbaugh was a guest of President Donald Trump at the 2020 State of the Union Address on February 4, 2020, where he was presented with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

On October 20, 2020, Limbaugh announced that attempts to treat the cancer were no longer containing the cancer, that his diagnosis was terminal and that he had been given a time frame on when he should expect to die, although he did not reveal the time frame. Limbaugh said he is living under a death sentence.

Twitter is trending from the political left rejoicing with the news of his death. “Rest in Piss” (#RestInPiss) is connected to news of his death along with references and memes to living in hell. Conservatives have responded to the negative response, concluding there is no unity in this country.
