Apparently a white Penske rental box truck was westbound on Rand Road when the pedestrian was hit. The area is dark in an of the roadway where it is difficult to see a pedestrian crossing. Officials initially did not confirm that the box truck is the vehicle that hit the pedestrian.

Rand Road (US-12) is closed between Dryden Avenue and Thomas Street. Dryden is open, but traffic on Dryden Avenue cannot turn to eastbound Rand Road.

An extended crash investigation is likely for the next several hours. Safety personnel and/or administrative personnel from UPS responded immediately to the scene. The truck was apparently being operated by UPS.
