Beginning at 8:00 p.m. Thursday August 13, 2020, Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) crews will begin and overnight project by closing one lane of traffic on the westbound I-290 ramp to southbound Interstate 355, and progress to a full closure of the ramp from 1:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. A detour will direct traffic to Biesterfield Road.
The Thursday/Friday overnight project is weather permitting, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation. Winds are forecast to be light from the north overnight, and there is no rain in the forecast until Saturday mid- to late-afternoon.
According to IDOT, motorists can expect delays, and should allow extra time for traveling near this construction project. Drivers are urged to be alert for road construction personnel and pay close attention to directions from flaggers and posted signs in the work zones. Motorists should also be certain to obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for moving equipment as well as workers.
