Three Tornado Warnings were activated by the National Weather Service between 3:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday August 10, 2020 as of 3:52 p.m. One of the Tornado Warnings includes Elk Grove Village, Des Plaines, Rosemont Glenview and Winnetka, Wood Dale, Addison, Elmhurst, Norridge, Elmwood Park, Lincolnwood, and Evanston.
The outdoor tornado sirens were activated Monday afternoon.
The northern edge of this Tornado Warning crosses near the very southeast tip of Arlington Heights near the Lake Briarwood neighborhood. Residents and businesses possibly affected by the Tornado Warning are south of Golf Road and south of Algonquin Road in Arlington Heights. The expected expiration of the Tornado Warning was 4:30 p.m. August 10, 2020, and the Tornado Warning was activated because of indications of a tornado on radar.
The threat of the tornado has likely passed as of 4:00 p.m. but the Tornado Warning expiration is 4:30 p.m.
Only moderate winds occurred in central Arlington Heights during the passage of the storm front. Arlington Heights Fire Department responded at 3:53 p.m. Monday August 10, 2020 to a “wires down” call at 205 West Miner Street for wires down near a dumpster at the back of the building at the address.
