One of Two Women Shot on Eisenhower Expressway Last Wednesday Near Central Ave, Chicago Dies Thursday

An Elgin woman, one of two victims shot in a double shooting last week on Saturday August 15, 2020 on the Eisenhower Expressway died Thursday August 20, 2020.

Lakasia Gregory, 19, was pronounced dead at 7:41 p.m. Thursday at Stroger Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Gregory was riding in a vehicle at about 4:18 a.m. Aug. 15 in the eastbound lanes of the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) east of Central Avenue near the Austin neighborhood when an unknown suspect in another vehicle opened fire, according to the Illinois State Police.

The 21 year-old female driver with Lakasia Gregory was also shot and was also transported to a Stroger Hospital, where she was initially listed in fair-to-serious with non-life threatening injuries.

A 23-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman who were also riding in the victims’ vehicle, but were not injured.
