52 Shot, 10 Killed in Another Violent Chicago Weekend During the Weekend Before Labor Day Weekend — ICYMI

Following another violent weekend in Chicago, in which two officers were among 52 people shot, Chicago Police Supt. David Brown addressed the city Monday, August 31, 2020.

Fifty-two people were shot during the weekend before Labor Day Weekend in Chicago — the same weekend that a mass shooting at the Lumes Pancake House occurred, killing one man and wounding five others. A total of 10 people were shot and killed across the City of Chicago.

Chicago Ald. Matt O’Shea said the victim was targeted, explaining that the offenders stood over the victim after he was initially shot. O’Shea implored citizens to report any information they may know about the mass shooting at Lumes.

51 Chicago police officers shot at and 10 hit this year

Murders are down 50 percent and shootings are down 15 percent compared to the previous six weeks before re-organization with the creation of Chicago police mobile patrol units and a Critical Incident Response Team.

The Murder Clearance Race has improved from the teens to over 40 percent.
