Magnitude 6.5 Earthquake Near Stanley, Idaho — Northeast of Boise Tuesday Night

A Magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck Idaho on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at 5:52 p.m. MDT in the Lost River Range in Central Idaho, 72 miles northeast of Boise, Idaho, and just northwest of Stanley, Idaho [USGS M 6.5 – 72km W of Challis, Idaho (44.448°N 115.136°W)].

Initially, no major damage was reported.

The 2020 Central Idaho earthquake was the most powerful earthquake to hit the state of Idaho since the 1983 Borah Peak earthquake which measured 6.9, and the 2nd-largest earthquake in the world over the past 30 days.
