Hospitals across the country are bracing for what could be a massive influx of patients amid the coronavirus crisis. NBC News’ Alexa Liautaud spoke with John Pearson, an emergency room nurse at one of the Bay Area’s biggest hospitals about overcrowding at hospitals and a shortage of supplies; also COVID-19 overwhelms hospital in Lombardy, Italy.
World-renowned chef Floyd Cardoz died Tuesday, March 24, 2020 in New Jersey one week after he was admitted to the hospital on March 17, 2020 while feeling feverish. He posted information about his hospital admission on Instagram on Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
“Sincere apologies everyone. I am sorry for causing undue panic around my earlier post. I was feeling feverish and hence as a precautionary measure, admitted myself into hospital in New York. I was hugely anxious about my state of health and my post was highly irresponsible causing panic in several quarters. I returned to New York on March 8th via Frankfurt.”
Floyd Cardoz was born and raised in Bombay, India and in the fabled trading center of Goa. Cardoz trained as a biochemist before he discovered where his real in a restaurant kitchen. After culinary school in India and Switzerland, he moved to New York City. Cardoz opened restaurants in News York City and Mumbai. In 2011, Cardoz competed and won on Season 3 of Bravo’s third “Top Chef Masters.” Cardoz was the author of two cookbooks: “One Spice, Two Spice: American Food, Indian Flavors” (2006) and “Floyd Cardoz: Flavorwalla: Big Flavor. Bold Spices. A New Way to Cook the Foods You Love” (2016).
