Republican Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart became the first member of Congress to test positive for coronavirus. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart announced the positive test on Wednesday March 18, 2020.

At least 15 members of Congress have announced steps to self-quarantine or otherwise isolate themselves as a precaution after coming in contact with individuals testing positive for Coronavirus COVID-19.

Also, Republican Rep. Mark Meadows of North Carolina, President Donald Trump’s incoming White House chief of staff, announced on Monday, March 16, 2020 that he was beginning work at the White House following a period of self-quarantine.
