After nearly four and a half months at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention the Crystal Lake Central High School senior will head back to a community ready to help her.
Meydi Guzman Rivas, age 18, is expected to be released from an ICE detention center in Pulaski County in the southern tip of Illinois, and head back to Crystal Lake, Illinois. Her high school counselor at Crystal Lake Central High School will be hosting her at the counselor’s home with her husband and family.
Meydi Guzman Rivas arrived in the United States with her father after they fled violence in their home country of Honduras. She has been detained since October 2019.
