Detached Garage Fire with Heavy Black Smoke on Neva Ave Near Kirk St, Niles

Police and firefighter/paramedics from Niles responded about 9:48 a.m. February 23, 2020 to a report of a detached garage fire in the block of 7800 North Neva Avenue in Niles.

Police first on the scene by 9:51 a.m. reported a confirmed fire. Niles Fire Department Tower 2’s crew on arrival at 9:51 a.m. reported heavy smoke showing.

Firefighters from Des Plaines, Morton Grove and Norwood responded mutual aid for Niles on the upgrade to a working fire.

Fire command reported a good knock on the fire by about 10:02 a.m. A 3-car garage was involved in the fire. Initially it was unknown if any vehicles were burning.
